fall in sales from various retailers

Apparently, the latest CBI figures are showing a fall in sales from various retailers, but that wont spoil the positive outlook for the summer period.

Barclays Commercial Bank for retail and wholesale in Peterborough said "he CBI's findings stand in contrast to the good news received last week from the ONS statistics, but do little to affect the signs that declining retail sales are bottoming out"

These figures indicate a decrease in the sales from some retailers.
